This enthusiasm and passion, although good most of the time to create a successful business, can also cause burn out and overwhelm if not managed properly. Although your business is part of your life and not separate like the old “live and work” model, rest is also part of your life.
It’s important as an entrepreneur to take at least one full day off work a week ( I personally take two). This means a day where you don’t have a notebook or pen with you wherever you go. You don’t check work emails or perform any tasks for your business.
A day where you can unwind, read, exercise, rest and enjoy the other parts of your life. Just as rest is important for athletes to recover and strengthen their tissues, rest is important for you to perform well when it is time to work.
Taking time out can allow inspiration and intuition to flow more clearly when it is time to work. Time out also reminds you of your other passions and purpose in life besides your business.
No matter how busy you get, I encourage you take at least one day off work a week and take note of the productivity and enthusiasm you gain when you resume working.
